Pastor Deric D. Dawson a proud native of Houston, TX, serves as the Senior Pastor of the New Providence Baptist Church the “Place of Power.” He is a product of the Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church where Reverend Dr. Samuel Compton Sr. serves as pastor, Dawson received his Bachelors of arts Degree in Administration of Justice with a minor in Psychology from Texas Southern University, and the Master of Divinity Degree from The Houston Graduate School of Theology.

Pastor Dawson is married to his College sweetheart Dr. Chrisdolyn N. Dawson, and they have been blessed with two wonderful daughters Destiny Franshae’ and Kayla Siobhan and one son, Deric D. Dawson Jr.

As the Senior Pastor of New Providence, Pastor Dawson is continuing a rich 75-year history of empowering and equipping believers to fulfill the Great Commission. As a consequence of his zeal for preaching and teaching, the “POP” has experienced exponential growth spiritually, numerically, and financially.

Additionally, Pastor Dawson is the former Chaplain of the Baptist Student Movement at Prairie View A&M University, and a Proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Dawson is the current President of Many Voices One Gospel Ministries, Professor of Old Testament studies and Dean of Chapel at the Kingdom Theological Seminary, Assistant Treasurer of the Evangelical Board of the American Baptist Convention of Texas, and the 1st Vice-Moderator of the Southeast District Association of Texas. Through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, Pastor Dawson is committed to fulfilling the Mandate of the Master.
